(1) Trichomoniasis is the most prevalent non viral sexually transmitted infection. It is multifocal infection that involves the vaginal epithelium, skene's gland, bartoli gland and urethra .

SYMPTOMS 

☆ Vaginal discharge, copious, yellow, green, frothy.

☆ Vulvar irritation, causing vulvitis and pruritus.

☆ Speculum examination reveals vaginal or Cervical punctuate hemorrhage in some cases. Also known as strawberry sports.

TREATMENT :~

● Metronidazole 2 gm tablets single dose (OR)

● Tinidazole 2gm tablets single dose.

●During pregnancy  oral Metronidazole can be used after first trimester.

●Recurrent and reinfection should be treated by Metronidazole tablets 500mg for BID for 7 days 

● The male sexual partner shuld be treated by oral Metronidazole.

(2) GONORRHEA 

Gonorrhea is the second most commonly reported communicable disease. Urethral infections caused by N~gonorrhea among men can produce symptoms that cause them to seek for curative treatment soon enough to prevent sequelae, but often not soon to avoid transmission to others. 

In Women gonococcal infection are commonly symptomatic or might not produce recognizable symptoms until complications {e.g P I D }have occurred. 

P I D can result in tubal scarring that can lead to infertility and ectopic pregnancy 

TREATMENT  

👉 Uncomplicated cases.

● Ceftrixone 250mg IM in single dose. Azithromycin 1gm orally in a single dose (OR) 

● Doxycycline 100mg OD for 7 days 

● Ceftrixone 1gm IM or IV every 24hrs then Cefixime 400mg tablets BID for 7 days to 14 days.
